I was just charting out our summer with the kids, and wow! It looks kind of busy. They don’t get out of school until mid-June (I kind of wish they got out earlier, but you can’t have everything, and it means that I can teach a summer class while they’re still in school). Here’s what our summer looks like:
Baton Rouge, Baseball, Cabin, Beach, Beach, Home, Kentucky, Porter’s Birthday, Camp and Swimming, Lake, Beach, Gilbert’s Birthday, School
I’d like to squeeze in some camping. I already bought a couple of waterpark passes for impromptu fun, and I figure we’ll make a couple of trips to the zoo, go for family bike rides, visit the skate park, make a fire in the fire pit, try to avoid mosquitos and ticks, and generally try to make summer as fun as we can. I’m looking forward to it.
One thing I’ve started working on is getting the boys to take a shower instead of a bath. With the warmer weather, there’s plenty of sweat, sunscreen, (and soon insect repellent and chlorine) to go around. They need to clean up each night. It’s not going well. The last time they got in the shower there was a pretty good amount of water sprayed all over the bathroom.
Oh, well. I have three months to perfect this.
