Seamus has a loose tooth. He was complaining that his teeth hurt the other day, and it occurred to us that maybe one of the teeth was loose. Sure enough, there’s a little wiggle to one of his bottom teeth. I didn’t think that the bottom teeth would fall out first, and he seems too young to me to have a loose tooth, but he does! Just as Porter’s teeth are coming in, Seamus’s are falling out, and there is the beautiful order of the universe. Apparently we will have tooth drama in our house for a long time.
Speaking of teeth. Seamus wanted to know if the tooth fairy would visit–he assumes he’s due for it. (I think Seamus thinks the tooth fairy is male.) Then I read this article today about kids and money, and it says you should start an allowance as soon as a child is tooth fairy ready. Hmmm…I think the article makes sense in that it’s an opportunity to teach kids what you value about money, but that’s something we haven’t really thought about much yet.
We took a before picture of his mouth (when doing so, Patrick remarked that he was feeling like my parents), and we’ll take an after picture when he loses the tooth. He was very concerned that he should show all his teeth in the picture, as normally we’re fussing at him to relax his mouth. Baring your teeth at the camera is not smiling!
He’s concerned about losing the tooth in Louisville because he doesn’t know if the tooth fairy can visit him there. He’s also a little worried that Granny or Grandaddy might try to pull his tooth out….
